Oak tree stops getting taller at some point and just starts getting wider every year instead? Yeah i can relate 😂
Trifficaengus
So sorry that local historians like Helen were not recognized by their peers.
Thank you for great video. Looking forward to eating fresh hazelnuts, just a few, I'll leave some for the squirrels.
Can I get the whole series
Is Scot’s pine not native to Scotland?
excellent presentation and solid delivery. reilly enjoying this content on native Irish trees, fair play
10kg of carbon across what timescale?
There’s a lovely massive Scot’s pine just out my back. I live beside an old estate that was built a couple hundred years ago (17 hundreds) and the trees in it are protected, meaning there’s some lovely big trees that are probably hundreds of years old
Great series, very informative. I could watch this all day
Its pedunculate not pendunculate
Phenomenal Information on the Native Trees and Presented in such an engaging way. I am trying to make some Tree related videos on my own channel and this information really helps. Will be sure to watch all your Tree videos. These videos are an absolute storehouse of wisdom. Thank you very much.
What a great series! Very well put together. More of this please! Maybe native wild edibles?
The leaves are great to drink in a tea, cleansing in spring for 3 week cures! It's an important tree
The alder cones can be used to disinfect things. Place them into a muslin bag and make an infusion. Into the rich brown water you can place dishcloths etc. to be ridden of germs.
Mature Ash groves are the most magical places because unlike the Beech, the Ash allows lots of light through to the forest floor and supports many many lifeforms around it. In Norse mythology, the Ash is seen as the creator of the universe and is known as the Yggdrasil. Irish monks were amongst the earliest settlers in Iceland, and Ashes in Iceland and Ireland have the same DNA.
0:38 Arbutus Unedo, the strawberry tree, is a native evergreen tree which is not a conifer.
Thank you for your excellent teaching
These are great videos, keep it up!
Bonjour de BRITTANY; I'm the patron (skipper) of the trans-océanik currach 'SANT EFFLAM" (in your vidéo) also of the naomhog currach "MERNOG " also of the Teify coracle "SIVI" and also of the SPEY coracle "pen kalled" you miss many other currachs. from the SAMI; And the most inportant ! make by the team of Proffesseur FERNANDO ALONSO ROMERO, in 1975/76 the little "BORNA" and the trans-oceanik " BREOGAN " the BREOGAN like L PHILLIPS show. braided from bottom to top like a spey coracle . it's the real old technik. as MAEL DUINNIG and the HUI CORRA make their currachs with 3 layers of skins. I can give you photos, books and others KENAVO (this summer the second brittany trans océanik currach "BRIOG" arrive to IONA;)
Thank you for this trees series of Ireland
Very relevant video for learning purposes
What a wonderful video. Should be shown in schools. Bravo 👏
It's o pleasant to listen to and watch this interesting series about the lovely trees, many thanks!✨☘️🌿
Superb. I learned a lot from this. GRMA
This is so depressing, seeing so much barren landscapes. Woodlands are now just handkerchiefs lying across the countryside
Brilliant series this. Loved every one of them. Aengus is fantastic. Beautifully shot and edited too Charlie. Fair play.
This was insightful thank you so much!
Have ya any cuttings of those native tress so I can grow one in my garden
Imagine a fully rewilded glenveagh
Excellent video, thanks for putting it together
learned so much about my family's stories from a new perspective. thank you from across the world.
less than 2%??? are we replanting??
Wow
Well said Finbarr! Let's see your words come true 🙏
It's so nice getting to see a video with healthy ashes, practically every ash tree in my area has dieback and it's a sad sight
It's everywhere now pretty much because we are getting more heavy wind storms now due to climate change it spreads much easier.
Gorgeous fiddling as always! Love the transcript! 🙃
Very informative and beautifully produced video. The red squirrel and Scots Pine make a majestic pair.
Watching this short video gives me a tremendous sense of well being.
Real idiot
Great narrating voice.
Great video
Where do I get the seeds?
Not a unionist or protestant but I'm a Gaeilgeoir and I hsve the utmost respect for this woman and what she has done in East belfast for the irish language and for progress in the north
Thanks for this. I think a great deal of the info is also good for Scotland. Glad the jays got a mention. They recently appeared in my neighbourhood, and I've noticed more oak seedlings appearing. I think magpies do a bit of acorn caching too, as there are suddenly a dozen wee oaks in my brothers lawn (no squirrels or jays, but a recent influx of magpies).
Brilliant video
Scannán ar dóigh. Another excellent video.
I honestly don't believe the trees are in real trouble. Maybe Ash that has been planted in sub-optimal environments, or simply non-native Ash. Modern humans can get very scared by change because they don't learn the history of the world, the ways of the world. In our panic and ignorance we make stupid deductions and predictions and even give unwise council.
Its clearly a much bigger problem than you state. Ash die back is not confined to poorly planted or non native trees. Look around and you'll see the extent of damage.
Great stuff.
Fantastic video.
